"The Enemy Gets Louder" - Nobody Told Me series

A 60-second devotional for anyone who stepped into faith and felt more opposition not less. You weren't a threat before. The volume of the opposition is often a sign of the significance of the calling.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 6:12

Nobody told me that the enemy gets louder after you commit.

I expected the opposite.

I thought once I gave my life to Christ the spiritual noise would quiet down.

That the doubts would fade. That the temptations would lose their grip. That the voice telling me I didn't belong in this would finally stop.

It got louder.

And nobody warned me about that.

Because here's what I didn't understand —

You weren't a threat before.

When you were drifting... when you were numb... when you were just surviving...

you weren't worth the attention.

But the moment you stepped into something real... the moment you said yes to a calling... the moment you decided to actually follow Jesus...

that's when the opposition showed up.

Ephesians 6:12 says — we do not wrestle against flesh and blood.

This isn't just your anxiety. This isn't just your insecurity. This isn't just your past talking.

There is a real enemy and his primary weapon is accusation.

Who do you think you are. You're not qualified for this. Nobody wants to hear from you. God can't use someone like you.

I've heard every one of those.

And here's what I've learned —

The volume of the opposition is often a sign of the significance of the calling.

1 Peter 5:8 says — your adversary prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour.

He doesn't waste his time on people who aren't moving.

So if the voice has gotten louder since you started following Jesus —

that's not a warning to stop.

That's confirmation that you're headed somewhere worth opposing.

Keep going.

You are NOT what you feel

Can I ask you something honest? Doesn't it get exhausting - being the only one you fully trust? Here's what I had to learn the hard way about the difference between instincts that protected you and a nervous system that never got the signal to stand down.

The MEN who saved me

I met my church family… It felt like home… but I hadn’t met my brothers yet. Not long after that, I got invited into a small men’s group. About twelve men in a room. No performance. No pretending. Just honesty. But those men, now they know my real story…
